ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Education in Ondokuz Mayıs University Bafra Vocational School began with the Organic Agriculture Program and the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Program in 2009, followed by the Plant Protection Program in 2015.
The department provides associate degree education covering subjects such as plant diseases and pests, their biology and ecology, host–pathogen interactions, pesticides and their environmental impacts, and mechanical, cultural, physical, chemical, biological, biotechnical, and integrated pest management methods. The aim is to meet the need for qualified intermediate staff in both the public and private agricultural sectors.
There are employment opportunities in Public Institutions (Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture, municipal Park and Garden Directorates, etc.), Private Agricultural Pesticide Companies, Environmental Health Services, companies that sell and apply biotechnical control products, seedling and sapling production companies, residue analysis laboratories, organic farming enterprises, and companies that sell and apply biological control products.
Students who are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) can transfer to various departments of Faculties of Agriculture.
