Ondokuz Mayıs University Bafra Culture and Sports Community organized the “Professional Career Meetings – 1” event on 26.03.2024 for the students of the Department of Property Protection and Security. Within the scope of the event, Career and Vocational Counselor Specialist Erdem Gökduman provided information on “developing strategies during the job search process, key points to consider in job interviews, and CV preparation.” In addition, police officers Hasan Arslan and Serdar Saraç held a professional talk.
Training on Occupational Health and Safety was provided to the students studying at Bafra Vocational School.
At Şehit Erkut Yılmaz Vocational Anatolian High School, our lecturer Damla UYGUR provided information to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students in the Accounting–Finance field regarding the academic role and importance of vocational schools, as well as the accounting department and the accounting profession.
Ondokuz Mayıs University, Bafra Vocational School organized the “Professional Career Meetings – 2” event on 21.05.2024 for the students of the Computer Technologies Department. Within the scope of the event, a conference was held on developing strategies for job searching and entrepreneurship, with the participation of the owners of Global Media Software & Design Office, our alumni Mr. Emre KURT and Mr. Abdüssamet OCAK.
The cycling event organized by the Bafra Culture and Sports Community and the Bicycle and Nature Sports Community was held with high participation.

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Bafra Vocational School held a well-attended ceremony for its graduating students of the 2023-2024 academic year. Awards were presented to the students who achieved success at the ceremony.
The final of the TEKNOFEST Turkish Natural Language Processing Competition, held in Kocaeli, took place at Informatics Valley with the participation of 163 teams and 531 competitors.
Our students Hicran Temel, Ahmet Anıl Sarıgüzel, and Ayşegül Topçu participated in the competition under the team name BAFRA 4.0. Lecturer Mustafa KAYA contributed to the team as an advisor.
A destination tour was organized on May 28th to better introduce students to Bafra at Bafra Vocational School. The trip, supervised by instructor Damla Uygur, was a joyful experience, with Bafra Mayor Hamit Kılıç also participating. The tour included visits to Asarkale and its rock tombs, the Sunken Minaret, Kapıkaya Hill, and Kolay Dam Reservoir.
A volleyball tournament was organized between 05–10 September 2025 within the scope of the “Public Health Week Activities,” in line with the decisions taken during the “Healthy Nutrition and Active Life Committee” meeting, by the Turkish Volleyball Federation Samsun Provincial Representation and the Provincial Directorate of Health.
Our university’s academic staff members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dursun Kurt and Lect. Ömür Keskiner achieved outstanding performance in the tournament and claimed the first-place podium.
Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) kicked off the 2025-2026 academic year with a special "OMU Harmony Fest" for its students. Students from Bafra Vocational School, Faculty of Pharmacy and Tourism, Tourism Vocational School, and Alaçam Vocational School gathered at the Bafra Campus. This exciting day featured academic information, refreshments, promotional booths for relevant institutions, Kahoot, orienteering, and reel competitions, and surprise events, making for an exciting start to the new term.

The bird ringing station established in Ormanya to identify bird species, migration routes, and observe their behaviors has begun its activities. The station, set up in Ormanya Wildlife Park under the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, aims to determine the migration routes, behaviors, wintering areas, migration timing, and strategies of migratory bird species. The ringing and observation studies, conducted under the supervision of Istanbul University Lecturer Ergün Bacak and Cemal Özsemir from Samsun 19 Mayıs University, will continue throughout all four seasons. The project, which addresses topics such as bird biology, ecology, behavior, and reproductive efficiency, will initially run for one year. In the first 7 days, more than 100 birds from 21 different species were ringed and recorded.

The 2025-2026 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduate Student Meeting was held under the moderation of Instructor Tuba Toprak.
With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a three-person team, including our university's academic staff member, Lecturer Dr. Arif Cemal Özsemir, has launched a study on storks in Sinop. A census conducted in Cuma Plain, Saraydüzü, revealed that 60 stork chicks were born this year. The veterinarian on duty also performed a health check on the storks, and the ringing procedure was performed.

The event titled “In the Footsteps of Twin Hills: Nature Walk,” organized by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Cycling and Nature Sports Community (BIDOST), was held as a remarkable experience that brought together both the energy of nature and the deep-rooted history of Bafra. Before the event, community members visited the officials of the Bafra Archaeology and Ethnography Museum and received detailed information about the archaeological background of the İkiztepe Mound and the excavation work conducted in the region. This briefing helped participants explore the historical texture they encountered during the walk with greater awareness and curiosity. A total of 53 participants followed the walking route under the guidance of Community President Ebru Sude Akdağ; they experienced the dynamism of physical activity while also observing firsthand the rich historical heritage of the region, which dates back to ancient times. BIDOST members and students studying at OMU Bafra Campus enjoyed an unforgettable day in this special area where nature and history intertwine, offering both physical activity and cultural awareness together. The event provided participants not only with a walk but also a comprehensive exploration experience that introduced them to Bafra's rich cultural heritage. Ondokuz Mayıs University Bafra Vocational School Accounting and Tax Department students participated in the "SMMMCareer Journey" event, organized to support their professional development. Osman Arslan, President of the Samsun Chamber of Certified Public Accountants, was the speaker at the event, hosted by OMÜ Samsun Vocational School.
The event was attended by Bafra Vocational School Accounting Department faculty member Damla Uygur. The program addressed the current importance of the accounting profession, the stages of becoming a CPA, internship and professional qualification requirements, opportunities in the sector, and changing professional expectations with developing technology.
Osman Arslan shared examples from his professional life with the students, providing information on key points to consider when planning a career. She emphasized the importance of specializing in accounting, staying abreast of current legislation, and adapting to digital transformation.
The event, which featured a question-and-answer session with active student participation, contributed to raising awareness of the profession. At the end of the event, Damla Uygur stated that the students' interaction with professionals was invaluable for motivation and thanked Osman Arslan for his contributions.
SAMSUN (AA) - The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Bicycle and Nature Sports Community (BIDOST) and the Bafra Culture and Sports Community held an event titled "Voluntary Green Pedals, Reducing Carbon Footprint" at the Bafra Kızılırmak Bird Sanctuary.
Gathering together to raise environmental awareness, raise awareness about reducing their carbon footprint, and encourage cycling, 34 community members rode among the natural resources, closely observing the bird sanctuary's biodiversity and sharing messages about sustainable living.
In her opening speech, Community President Sude Minuz stated that the aim of the event was to demonstrate that sustainable living is possible, even with small steps. The Presidents stated, "Every pedal we pedal is a message to the world: 'We are ready for change.' Every pedal you take today is a breath of fresh air for both our health and our planet."
Community Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yasul, commenting after the event, emphasized that cycling is an important step for clean air, a healthy life, and low carbon emissions. Yasul said, "Nature is a home entrusted to us, and protecting it is our responsibility. Today, we have seen once again how powerful an impact individual changes can create when combined."
The Community Presidents thanked Ondokuz Mayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. He expressed his gratitude to Fatma Aydın, the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, and all the staff who contributed.
