The "Stork Population Project in Cuma Plain," conducted with the contributions of Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ), Sinop University, Ankara University, and Saraydüzü Mehmet Akif Ersoy Anatolian High School, began in 2022.
As part of the project's field work in 2026, 48 stork chicks were fitted with both metal and PVC (blue ring) rings, and one chick was fitted with a GPS transmitter. A total of 325 stork chicks were ringed over the five years of the project.
